The state of emergency declared after heavy flooding in two Bulgarian municipalities this week is set to remain in force on Saturday, authorities say.

Torrential rains in both Galabovo and Radnevo, lying in the southeast of Bulgaria caused rivers passing through the region, leaving a number of buildings partly inundated.

A new, albeit low, tidal wave not exceeding 30 cm is expected on Saturday.

Galabovo and its villages are now undergoing a two-hour blackout after the floods caused power disruptions.

Across Bulgaria, in the southwestern region of Vidin, a total of twenty-six towns and villages are suffering power cuts due to the sub-zero temperatures which left the grid covered in ice. Officials are expecting to have the grid fixed by the end Saturday.
