Bulgaria: October Budget Deficit Increases By BGN 300 M

Bulgaria's budget deficit as of October reached BGN 1.76 B, said the Finance Ministry.

For comparison, in September it was BGN 1.47 B.

The Finance Ministry data shows that the vast part of the deficit is formed by a shortage in EU funds – a total of BGN 1.066 B.

The budget revenue was BGN 24.021 B, the expenditure was BGN 25.78 B. The fiscal reserve was BGN 8.7 B.

According to the Ministry, the deficit was within the normal.

Meanwhile, it transpires from a record of the Friday government meeting, that major road project such as the extension of the Hemus highway, the construction of the expressways Sofia-Kalotina, Sofia-Vidin and Sofia-Ruse and the purchase of a new fighter jet for Bulgaria's Air Force are postponed for “better times” due to money shortage.
