The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) has demanded that retirement age remain unchanged in 2015.
CITUB President Plamen Dimitrov declared Monday that the trade union was ready to stage protests in the case of a government decision to change the retirement criteria in 2015.
Dimitrov, as cited by investor.bg, made clear that the government had to start working with the social partners on legal changes aimed at stabilizing the system and reaching a pension rate of 65% of the salary at the time of retirement.
He suggested that the government had to adopt urgent measures to encourage consumption and increase incomes.
The CITUB President pointed out that it was imperative to increase incomes in order to overcome the deflation trend which had persisted for 15 months.
Dimitrov noted that the minimum monthly wage had to increase to BGN 400 as of 2015.
He also backed a gradual increase in the average monthly wage by at least 10% a year, adding that the proposal would be discussed with employers.
Dimitrov also proposed the introduction of an income-tax-free threshold at BGN 340 per month and progressive income tax.
