The Patriotic Front (PF) will not put into question the integrity of Bulgaria's ruling coalition, leaders of the front have announced.
The PF, a nationalist alliance which signed an agreement earlier in November to back the minority coalition, is protesting at a decision to appoint Orhan Ismailov, an ethnic Turk, to the Deputy Defense Minister's office.
It earlier set a 24-hour ultimatum saying it could withdraw its support from the cabinet.
After meeting Prime Minister Boyko Borisov at the government's headquarters Krasimir Karakachanov and Valeri Simeonov, co-chairmen of the front, said Borisov should make himself familiar with the situation.
"We did not pose any demands [to Borisov]," Simeonov told the Bulgarian National Radio after the meeting.
In Karakachanov's words, Borisov explained he should first consider the PF's position more carefully in order to decide.
Simeonov had earlier stated that Ismailov, whose nomination was raised by the Freedom and Dignity People's Party (one of the parties within the Reformist Bloc), was "a disgrace" to the Defense Ministry.
The Patriotic Front have however not explicitly said they will retain their support for the government, saying the alliance was yet to adopt a final stance if Borisov refused to replace Ismailov.
Menda Stoyanova from center-right GERB, the main ruling party, told the Bulgarian National Television on Thursday morning she did not see any reason for the PF's indignation other than the fact Ismailov "is a Muslim."
