Romania's president elect Klaus Iohannis said his party - the National Liberal Party (PNL) – will seek the replacement of incumbent government in 2015 or 2016, at the latest, reports the Romanian news agency Agepress.
In Iohannis' words, PNL does not want “cosmetic changes in a government of the Social Democratic Party (PSD)”.
“We have all seen politicians showing up to demand the replacement of the incumbent government and asking us why we are not more vocal, why we are not asking for an urgent replacement of the government,” Iohannis told a press conference.
“I want to be very clear: what we want is a change in the power configuration in Romania. We want to take over the power, we, the National Liberal Party (PNL). We are no longer two parties, but one party, the new PNL that wants to take over the power, which will happen in 2015 or 2016, at the latest, when there is a general election. We do not want cosmetic changes in a government of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), we are not interested in cosmetic changes for the show; we want deep changes, because that is what we have understood from the Romanian citizens that voted in the November 16 elections,” Iohannis said.
He pointed out that the government has to come up with the 2015 national budget, because the Government has to indicate the sources for the money to pay out 'the electoral handouts,' to say what rates and taxes will increase and how the government sees the year 2015.
