Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev has praised the caretaker government for successfully organizing a smooth transition to a new Cabinet.

Plevneliev presented Monday an evaluation of the term in office of the caretaker government.

He pointed out that the ministers had proved that a lot could be achieved within a short period of time, provided that one acted with professionalism.

Bulgaria’s President, as cited by the Focus news agency, announced that the caretaker government had adopted key measures in the sectors of energy, healthcare, and justice.

Plevneliev noted that the interim Cabinet had prepared a plan for the restoration of the suspended payments under EU operational programs, introduced legal changes applicable to EU funds, and started developing a law on EU funds management.

He added that Bulgaria’s Partnership Agreement with the European Commission for the 2014-2020 period had entered into force during the term in office of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki.

He emphasized that the caretaker government had also organized the parliamentary elections in October successfully.

Plevneliev said that the election of Kristalin Georgieva for European Commission Vice-President had been an undisputed success, adding that it was proof of the trust which the Bulgarian nomination and the caretaker government had won.

He reminded that Bulgaria had seen five governments and three parliaments change in two years, adding that the caretaker Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Bliznashki had achieved quite a lot during its short term in office.
