Bulgaria’s President has suggested that Bulgarian citizens are not that interested in whether their government has a left-wing, a right wing or a centrist orientation but whether they are keeping their promises.

Speaking shortly after the election of the new government headed by Boyko Borisov, Plevneliev noted that Borisov deserved congratulations and support for taking responsibility at a difficult period of time, stressing that he had received the historical recognition of being Bulgaria’s first Prime Minister to win a second term in office.

Plevneliev drew attention to the fact that the different political formations had made substantial sacrifices for the sake of reaching agreement on certain priorities and achieving greater stability in Bulgaria.

“Bulgaria has its new government, which is what matters most today. And it will be important from now on,” Bulgaria’s President declared.

He pointed out that the government was based on a clear coalition agreement and a clear agreement on the support of the ABV Movement (Alternative for Bulgarian Revival) and the Patriotic Front, adding that the policy statement, which had already been published, had to be implemented.

Borisov was elected Prime Minister for a second term in office on Friday with the support of 149 MPs, with 85 MPs against, while the structure of the new government was backed by 144 MPs with 83 votes against and one abstention, and the makeup of the new government was approved by 136 MPs, with 97 MPs against and one abstention.
