Nikolay Nikolov, and Georgi Matsin, director and deputy director of a regional unit of Bulgaria's Automobile Administration Executive Agency (AAEA), have been charged with abuse of office.
The prosecuting authority also pressed charges against an owner of a transport company, Ilko Iliev.
The three were arrested for a period of up to 72 hours in an operation of the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office and the State Agency for National Security (DANS).
The offences were committed in the period July – October 2014.
Nikolov faces three charges, including soliciting and receiving a bribe of BGN 4000, soliciting and receiving a bribe of BGN 1000, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Matsin faces charges of abetting Nikolov in receiving a bribe of BGN 1000.
Iliev faces charges of abetting Nikolov in soliciting and receiving a bribe of BGN 4000 and of unlawful possession of ammunition.
The Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office has requested that the Plovdiv District Court order the three defendants remanded in custody.
