Doctors and teachers have the most stressful jobs in Bulgaria, according to a national survey of the General Labor Inspectorate conducted last year.

Journalists complete the top three most stressful professions in the country.

"There is a proven link between the work related stress and high blood pressure, ulcers, diabetes and problems with the musculoskeletal system," Dr. Sofia Evstatieva from the Department of Occupational Medicine at the Medical University in Sofia said, as cited by Monitor Daily.

According to an analysis by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, half of Bulgarians work in a stressful environment. Over 50% of European employees also admit that stress is an integral part of their work. Bulgarian employers, unlike those in the rest of Europe, rarely take measures to reduce the work related stress. Less than 10% of companies in the country implement anti-stress techniques.
