Bulgaria and Romania will sign a Memorandum of Understanding to implement feasibility studies on the construction of two new bridges over the Danube River, Transport Minister Nikolina Angelkova said, Tuesday.

The facilities will connect Nikopol with Turnu Magurele, and Silistra with Calarasi, Bulgaria's news agency BGNES reports.

The funding will be granted under the Cross border cooperation program Bulgaria-Romania 2014-2020. The common application will be submitted next year and the overall technical preparation will then begin.

Regarding the expansion of the Danube Bridge at Ruse-Giurgiu, its design will be included in the Operational Program Transport 2014-2020, as this part is a European corridor and this allows the use of European funding.
