Bulgaria: Sofia’s Odeon Cinema Hosts Film Fest for Environmental Documentaries

The second edition of the documentary film festival “Gorichka Film Fest” will be held on October 9-15 at the Odeon cinema in Sofia.

The program includes 8 films devoted to a range of topics, including the the world's changing glaciers, the people living in one of the most radioactive contaminated spots on earth, food thrown away in supermarket's dustbins, and growing sustainable local food systems.

“We have always been ready to listen to somebody’s story, to hear the person who is telling it. Sometimes this is enough,” says Magdalena Maleeva, the founder of the event.

“Our goal is to comprehend what we are being told, to soak up the experience of people who have already been through something, be it something happy, or sad, or dark, or inspiring, and share it with everybody who is willing to hear it,” the organizers say.

Tickets cost BGN 5 per movie, and the pass for all 8 films in the program costs BGN 30.
