The blockade at two of the three border crossings between Bulgaria and TurkeyKapitan Andreevo and Malko Tarnovo is lifted, said Bulgaria's Interior Ministry.

There are still people lingering at the checkpoints, but traffic has been restored.

Earlier on Wednesday supporters of the Bulgaria Without Censorship party blocked all three crossings with the intention to prevent Turks of Bulgarian origin with dual citizenship from travelling to Bulgaria to celebrate the upcoming Kurban Bayrami holiday and vote in the elections on Sunday.

The initial plans of the party were to keep the border crossings closed until October 5.
