It is hardly needed to say it, but I'll start with the most real truth in modern societies - freedom of the media is the mother of all freedoms in democracy.
Admittedly, and especially in Bulgaria, everybody understand this freedom as they want and if, God forbid, one deletes a to delete any heinous and anonymous post in a certain forum a yell is immediately set up to the heaven, with every other word in this howl mentioning freedom, speech, democracy and all their derivatives.
But TV 7 is now quite a special case and a week before the election this makes me think the fate of this TV is quite an indicative litmus test for what happens or what will happen in Bulgaria. The first reason is precisely that: indeed just a week before the elections in Bulgaria a media is placed not only to an the extreme test, but also to a huge humiliation of all possible instances.
The second obvious reason is the narrow (obvious before and only God knows what now) relation between the crisis in Corporate Commercial Bank (KTB) and TV7. Regardless of who the owners or consultants are, the fact that the bank crisis also caused a crisis in the television shows that at least the financial relationship does exist. This is the most normal thing in the world as well, but while the fate of the bank - trust - is what matters the most in the country now, what will happen to TV 7 is also an important part of this complex puzzle.
Thirdly, TV 7 is currently having one of the most capable and intelligent Bulgarian politicianns and TV presenters as CEO. There is hardly a better expert in Bulgaria's political landscape and of television process than Emil Koshlukov, a man who took up the heavy cross to back the television in its most difficult days.
The fourth reason is certainly the fact that over the past months TV 7 is a super-objective, relaxed and professional TV station this probably infuriated a lot of people.
Fifth - the challenge is actually huge, since it does not lie just in the business perspective, it's also about the judiciary in Bulgaria and to law enforcement authorities as well, with all of them having responsibilities in this knotty case.
In the sixth place comes the indisputable fact that particularly this TV is full of professionals and counts on great reporters, technicians, operators and many more specialists who proved long ago that they are making good European television.
Seventh, which is actually first - an infringement is being committed on a media outlet in days when free media in Bulgaria are more in demand than air, the fresh air that we all - in business and in society, expect to come precisely from the media.
Therefore you should carefully keep an eye on TV 7 in the coming days and weeks, as its fate will be quite a serious wind-cone for what is happening in Bulgaria. And also for what will happen.
