Bulgaria: Up to 20% Price Hike of Solid Fuel Expected in Bulgaria Photo by customs.bg.

More people in Bulgaria will start using solid fuel for heating due to the expected electricity price hike, according to the experts.

Wood and coal, however, are also expected to get a price increase of up to 20%, Bulgarian National Television (BNT) informs.

In the region of Blagoevgrad, for example, most people use solid fuel. In recent years, prices in the region have barely changed. Prices of the different types of coal vary from BGN 180 to BGN 350 per tonne and 0.6 cubic meters of wood are sold for BGN 50.

The municipal company Toplivo JSC has claimed that it is a matter of time for the prices of wood and coal to increase, BNT reports.

According to the director of the company Ivan Rizov, even if there is a price hike of solid fuel, the number of people using wood and coal for heating will increase, because it is still a cheaper alternative.
