Bulgaria and Egypt will enhance bilateral cooperation through implementing more joint projects, President Rosen Plevneliev and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi agreed, Wednesday.

At a meeting held at UN headquarters, the two countries discussed the need to modernize and attract more investments in key sectors, such as water resources management, transport infrastructure and energy, the President's press office informs.

"We have expertise in all energy sectors - nuclear, hydropower, renewable energy, and we can offer the best ratio between price and quality," said Plevneliev, adding that there is a possibility for Egypt to invest in Bulgarian agriculture and food exports.

He noted Egypt's progress in implementing the road map towards transitioning to a democratic governance and wished that the upcoming parliamentary elections there are held successfully.

Bulgaria's President welcomed Egypt's efforts to improve the dialogue between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. He expressed his support for the upcoming conference in Cairo, during which plans for the restoration of Gaza will be discussed.

The two presidents agreed that the Islamic State's actions are a serious threat for international security and that the fight against terrorism is not just a regional problem but requires joint efforts by the international community.
