Bulgaria's caretaker Interior Minister Yordan Bakalov refused to divulge if there was an increased number of illegal immigrants after the strikes against the Islamic State (IS).
“We are struggling to handle the situation,” he said, quoted by News.bg.
Bakalov, however, recommended that Parliament takes urgent measures on the situation with Bulgaria's south eastern border. “This can only be done by a regular parliament, regular government and a dedicated budget,” he said.
He said some measures for stepping up security at the border are being taken and the government is keeping a close eye on the developments in Iraq, Syria and Turkey.
