The plans of the Sofia Municipality include 17 sites and the repair works will cost BGN 100 M, according to reports of 24 Hours Daily.

The Sofia Municipality will take steps to ensure that there are no traffic blocks and that the repair works are evenly distributed across the territory of the city and that there is an alternative route for each road or boulevard that is being repaired.

All sites will be repaired through partial narrowings and there will be almost no suspensions of traffic, according to Lyubomir Hristov, Deputy Mayor of Sofia in charge of traffic, as cited by 24 Hours Daily.

The list of projects for 2015 includes a two-level junction on the Bulgaria and Ivan Geshov boulevards. The project for the two-level road junction has not yet been launched due to an appeal. The Sofia Municipality won the case at the court of first instance and if there is no new appeal, the construction works may start in 2014. The most difficult project envisages repair works at the Knyaz Aleksandar Dondukov Boulevard, which concentrates a major portion of traffic in downtown Sofia. The repair works will cover a section from Krakra Street to the Youth Theatre “Nikolay Binev” and will cost BGN 8 M. The tram tracks will be replaced, as well as the curbs and the sidewalks. No decision has yet been taken on replacing the paving blocks by asphalt.

The repairs of the Kozloduy Street section from the Knyaginya Maria Louisa Boulevard to Konstantin Stoilov Street envisage the rehabilitation of the tram tracks and road lanes. The project is to cost BGN 3.2 M.

The list of projects to be carried out in 2015 also includes a new section of the Obikolna Street between Block # 211 in the Druzhba residential district and the Kopenhagen Boulevard. The new 1.1-kilometer street will cost BGN 3 M and will be equipped with a bike lane.

Apart from the 17 sites included in the list, the Sofia Municipality has also allocated a sum of BGN 10 M to repairs of small streets in the different residential districts.

A total of BGN 30 M has been earmarked for running repairs, of which BGN 3 M will go to repairs of sidewalks.

The last stage of the repair works of the pedestrian zone of the Vitosha Boulevard section between the Solunska Street and the Alabin Street will start in spring. The project has a price tag of BGN 1.6 M.
