Bulgaria's Customs office in Sofia has seized 8,000 liters of dyed fuel used for other purposes.

The Customs officers have carried out a number of inspections of vehicles, private property of individuals and sites managed by legal entities.

The inspections uncovered a scheme for the misuse of marked fuel. The fuel had been declared for use for baking bread thus avoiding the payment of part of the excise duty. The rate for dyed fuel is BGN 50 per tonne.

The Customs have prevented the unauthorized use of the fuel and prejudicing the state budget with BGN 10,000 per month.
