Bulgaria: Bulgaria Seizes 16kg Heroin at Border with Turkey

Bulgaria’s Customs Agency said on Friday it has seized nearly 16 kg of heroin at Malko Tarnovo checkpoint, at the border with Turkey.

The drug haul was hidden in a Bulgarian-registered car that travelled to Bulgaria from Turkey on August 13, the agency said in a statement. The car driver was a Bulgarian citizen.

Customs inspectors found 30 packs inside the car containing a brown powder substance that field test showed was heroin.

The customs office in Burgas has launched an investigation.

A week ago, the Customs Agency said its inspectors had seized 1 kg of heroin during a check of a Bosnian citizen travelling by bus from Turkey to Netherlands via Bulgaria.
