Caretaker Ministers of Interior and and Social Policy have set off for Mizia, where flash floods took two lives and left a fourth of the town under water.

The situation is now easing down in the northwestern town, but waters are still running high above their usual levels and drainage is hindered by poor infrastructure, additionally damaged by the natural disaster.

Labor and Social Policy Minister Yordan Hristoskov and Interior Minister Yordan Bakalov (both deputies to caretaker PM Georgi Bliznashki), will provide assistance to the newly-established crisis response center, the Bulgarian National Radio reports.

Bakalov was quoted by the BNR as saying the situation was currently "under control".

In his words, authorities "have made the same mistakes four or five times" during the summer and that caused the floods and was also the reason for the death toll across Bulgaria.

He argued the first warning of a possible tidal wave threatening Mizia had been issued three days in advance, but nothing had been done in response.
