Bulgaria's Customs officers have detained a total of 8 stolen luxury cars worth about EUR 1M in one month only, the Ministry of Interior reported.

The expensive vehicles were seized during auto theft inspections in Western Europe in the period July – August 2014.

Among the luxury cars detained at the Bulgarian – Serbian checkpoint Kalotina are Audi Q5, BMW X3, BMW X70, Audi Q7 S Line, Audi S5, Land Rover Discovery and Mercedes.

The vehicles have French, German, Belgian and Italian registration plates.

Some of the automobiles have been reported missing via the Schengen Information System by EU countries and Interpol.
