The caretaker government will work to provide more stability, dialogue and transparency in government, Georgi Bliznashki, Bulgaria's new interim PM, said.
"European Parliament elections held on May 25 restated the non-conformity of [political] forces in the National Assembly and societal attitudes. Political parties reached an agreement on early parliamentary elections on October 5, and the parliamentary crisis grew into a governmental one," Bliznashki told President Rosen Plevneliev and other members of his cabinet at the ceremony where the head of state revealed the names of the interim government members.
"This requires that we uphold the Constitution and the laws in the country," he added.
He explained that among the main aims of his government would be to provide a responsive administration which could address "the needs of society and citizens" and also to "improve Bulgaria's image it the EU and NATO".
"Regardless of the limited resources at disposal for the government, we will turn a blind eye to the pains of our compatriots [who] suffered from natural disasters and will do everything to help them," the interim PM said.
He urged citizens to prove Bulgarians are a "wise and proud" people that is capable of deciding its fate on its own.
