Galen Monev, a lawmaker from far-right Ataka party, has deposited his resignation as part of the group in Bulgaria's Parliament.

Monev submitted his request on the day when the National Assembly held its last (and extraordinary) session to vote on updates to the state budget and healthcare expenditures.

The reasons for his decision are yet unknown, but the website Dnevnik.bg reports that he is soon expected to join MEP Nikolay Barekov's Bulgaria without Censorship party.

Last week MP Dimitar Avramov also left Ataka, which has been boycotting Parliament for weeks now, to joint the group of independents, where most of the lawmakers have declared affiliation to Bulgaria without Censorship, though the party did not run at the May 2013 elections.

Ataka has been battered by the weak results at the European Parliament elections this year, with just 2.96% of the ballots cast in their favor (compared to 7.3% at the early elections in May 2013).
