IMF Concludes Regular Mission in Bulgaria, Recommends Restoring VAT to Pre-Pandemic Levels

In June 2014, the number of trips of Bulgarians abroad was 411.1thousand or by 7.3% above the registered in June 2013, the National Statistical Institute reports.
In comparison with the same month of the previous year an increase was observed in the total number of trips of Bulgarians to Serbia – by 43.5%, Romania – by 29.4%, France – by 26.6%, the Czech Republic – by 25.7%, Italy – by 21.3%, Macedonia – by 20.2%,the United Kingdom – by 16.7%, Germany – by 15.8%, Spain – by 12.6%.
At the same time a decrease was observed in the total number of trips of Bulgarians to Belgium – by 26.5%, Austria – by 8.3%, Greece – 6.6%.
In June 2014, the number of arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria was 1 176.5 thousand or by 1.0% above the level of June 2013. An increase was registered in the trips with professional purpose – by 16.3%, and with holiday and recreation purpose – by 3.0%, while the trips with other purposes decreased by 8.3%.
The share of visits of ЕU citizens was 55.2% of the total number of foreigners’ visits to Bulgaria in June 2014 which is an increase of 0.9% compared to the same month of 2013.
An increase was registered in the visits of citizens of Hungary – by 31.5%, Belgium – by 14.2%, the United Kingdom – by 10.9%, Germany – by 8.8%, the Czech Republic – by 7.9%, Austria – by 7.4%.
At the same time there was a decline in the visits from Italy – by 10.2%, France – by 6.7%, Greece – by 2.8%, Poland – by 2.3%, Romania – by 1.7%.
The visits of foreigners in the group “Other European countries” decreased by 2.7% as the highest drop was observed in the visits of citizens of Turkey and Ukraine – by 20.7% and 16.4%, respectively.
