Greenpeace Warns of Polluted Reservoirs in Bulgaria's Stara Zagora

Excessive levels of lead, chromium and manganese have been detected by the Greenpeace organization in reservoirs located near power plants in Bulgaria's region of Stara Zagora.
This was announced at a press conference by Dr. Filka Sekulova from the Bulgarian branch of the international environmental organization, Radio Stara Zagora reports.
Excessive levels of lead were recorded in all water reservoirs, however the highest levels were measured in the Kovachevo reservoir. According to Sekulova, the river Sokolitsa and Rozov Kladenets reservoir have been contaminated, as well. Despite that, their waters are used for fishing and possibly for the irrigation of the nearby sunflower plantations, the environmentalists alarmed.
