Bulgaria's government has given green light to the Economy Ministry to spend additional BGN 22 M on decommissioning four units of the Kozloduy NPP.
The money has already been projected in the central budget for 2014, website Investor.bg reports.
Kozloduy NPP's Units 1 to 4 are envisaged to be completely decommissioned by 2030, after a 2008 decision of the Council of Ministers was reconfirmed in 2012.
Aid from the EU is also to be put aside for the activity, with EUR 293 M approved by the European Parliament in 2013.
EU funds will be allocated under the 2014-2020 program.
Closing down of the four units was part of the EU's conditionality during Bulgaria's accession talks, as Brussels argued their reactors did not meet modern standards.
