Bulgaria handed over the Presidency of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC) to Greece, who will assume the role from July 1 until the end of the year.

“Our calendar was tightly scheduled with many events, but what is most important are the results. We achieved such in a number of priority spheres, such as transport, youth and sports, healthcare, IT, and the development of business contacts among the countries of the region”, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin said during a joint press conference with Greek Deputy FM Dimitris Kourkoulas.

“With the initiative of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, we managed to organize two major business forums, which served as platforms to connect companies from across the Black Sea region”, Vigenin added.

“Over the next six months, Greece will work for increasing the visibility of the region in terms of attractiveness to foreign investors”, Kourkoulas stated.

According to him, the fact that Greece assumes the BSEC presidency right after passing on the EU one, is symbolic, and entails that Athens remains active in promoting transnational cooperation.
