Bulgaria will nominate UNESCO's Director-General Irina Bokova for the post of UN Secretary-General, according to unconfirmed reports.
The proposal was made by Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin, but no official statement has been released yet, Focus agency reported.
Bokova, who won Novinite's "Personality in the News 2013" award in the Politics category, was re-elected for a second 4-year term as UNESCO Director-General in November 2013.
Meanwhile, the current UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon started his second term on the post in 2011, which expires in 2016.
Bokova, who is also a former Ambassador to France and Minister of Foreign Affairs, is the first woman to head UNESCO.
