Iraq is coming under intense pressure from fellow Arab states to accept and comply fully with the new United Nations resolution calling on Baghdad to give up its alleged weapons of mass destruction. Foreign ministers from the Arab League - meeting in Cairo on Sunday - say they want Iraq to comply in order to avoid a US-led military intervention that they fear would unleash popular anger across the region. After meeting Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri, his Egyptian and Saudi counterparts indicated that Baghdad was likely to accept the deal. So far, Iraq has said only that it is "calmly" studying the resolution, passed by all 15 members of the Security Council on Friday, including the only current Arab member, Syria. In another development, President Saddam Hussein has called an emergency session of Iraq's parliament to debate the new UN Security Council disarmament Resolution 1441, state television reported.
