Bulgaria's deputy energy minister Ivan Ayolov confirmed, that the controversial amendments to the Energy Acts were coordinated with South Stream Transport, owned by Gazprom. 

“Of course they are coordinated,” Ayolov told Dnevnik.bg. “But it was not on their initiative or oversight.”

According to him, there were comments on the matter between the Bulgarian authorities and South Stream Transport. “But I cannot agree that it was under their pressure,” Ayolov said. “This simply is not true.”

In his words, those amendments were meant to be made and the South Stream Pipeline was just the cause.

In an open letter to the media on Thursday, the opposition Reformist Block claimed the amendments, introducing the term “sea pipe line”, for which Bulgaria is harshly criticised, were made upon the orders of Gazprom. The coalition said they had obtained letters, memoranda and reports in support of their claims.
