Russia displayed its full military might during the annual Victory Day parade at the Red Square in Moscow.

The country marked the 69th anniversary of the defeat over Nazi Germany in WW II.

This year's parade was more massive than in previous years, involving 50 additional military vehicles, 11,000 army personnel, and a special role of the Sevastopol Black Sea Fleet, the BBC reports. The event lasted for an hour, compared to the usual 45 minutes.

In his speech, President Vladimir Putin refrained from touching upon the sensitive topic of Ukraine, although a flag of the breakaway Crimean region was seen waved over one of the tanks.

"It is a day of national triumph and national pride, a day of grief and everlasting memory. It is a celebration of the invincible power of patriotism that triumphs when we all have a particularly acute feeling of what it means to be loyal to one's Motherland and how important it is to defend its interests", President Putin said.

"We'll never let you down; we'll take care of Russia, its glorious history, putting it above all. It has always been this way in our country and I'm sure it will be in the future", Putin told the thousands of army veterans.

Unconfirmed reports suggest President Putin may attend a parade in the Crimean city of Sevastopol later, a move which German Chancellor Angela Merkel described would be "a pity".

In 1612, Moscow belonged to Poland and in 1812 to France. Please return, as it would mean less stress to everyone.

Lana J,

Thank you for the invitation, I will be gladly there celebrating with you and your friends the next 70th Victory day. It will be wonderful!

It is very good that people from the world unite, have a drink, eat good and celebrate the sacrifice soviet soldiers did for the USSR and Europe, to free us from Hitler. If USSR hadn't won, who knows, maybe we wouldn't even be alive.

I wish you a wonderful night, and I'm happy you had it great : ) This holiday is one of the most important of the year : )

Vladimir, we did just that and it was great! We gathered around the table- Russians, Bulgarians, Kirghiz,English. We had a couple of bottles of Georgian wine, good food, we watched Parade, listen to wartime songs, shed a few tears remembering those who lost their lives in the WWII, remembered Allies and sacrifices of civilians.... Next year is 70 years of Victory. It will be a big celebration! You are invited.

Vlad/Optimistic/Yane - Get a life bro, even for a dirty Russki i'm sure you can find a gypsy willing to fuck you up the ass. Get some tension relieved and find something else to waste your time rather than spending all day on this website.

Bulgaria belonged to the Ottoman Empire and it rightfully belongs to Turkey.

Facists are returning especially in Bulgaria.

The Russian ploy of lending Bulgaria money is so that Russia can make Bulgaria subservient to it and make it follow the conditions Russia imposes and remove the governments power. In effect Russia is annexing Bulgaria.

Take these impressive forces to Sofia and put a big Turkish flag there.

The Ukraine belonged to the USSR and it rightfully belongs to the Russian Federation.

Facists are returning especially in the Ukraine.

The IMF ploy of lending the Ukraine money is so that the West can make the Ukraine subservient to it and make it follow the conditions the IMF imposes and remove the governments power. In effect the West is annexing the Ukraine.

Take these impressive forces to Kiev and put a big Russian flag there.
