The suspension of the South Stream gas pipeline is not being discussed, according to Dominique Ristori, Director-General of Directorate-General Energy of the European Commission.

"The issue is currently not being discussed. Now it is important to restore the political conditions for the necessary cooperation between the EU and Russia, we are working to this end. All talks continue," he told Russian journalists, according to reports of ITAR TASS and the BGNES news agency.

He claimed that nowadays many were interested in restarting relations between Europe and Russia in the energy sphere.

"We communicate regularly, I get in touch with Deputy Minister Yanovskiy on a weekly basis, at times even several times a week," Ristori noted.

He also expressed hopes that the conditions for resolving disagreement on the South Stream gas pipeline projects would be in place by 2015, stressing the importance of the conduit.
