Bulgaria: Russia's Ambassador to Bulgaria: We Will Respond to EU Sanctions Russian Ambassador to Sofia Yuriy Isakov. Photo by BGNES.

Russia will respond to EU sanctions, Russia's Ambassador to Bulgaria Yuriy Isakov stressed, Saturday.

Sanctions in general are not only less productive, but also harmful because they return like a boomerang to those who initiate them, Isakov said in an interview for Bulgaria's Darik radio.

"First of all, I want to say that we do not enjoy sanctions. Secondly, these sanctions will hit like a boomerang those who initiate them. I want to remind you that the volume of trade with the EU last year approached USD 500B. When speaking of such volumes of economic cooperation and economic relations, one cannot hope that the negative effect will be unilateral, " the diplomat said.

Russia's Ambassador said that after the latest events, Russia can no longer make concessions to Ukraine in the clauses of the gas contract between the two countries.

According to the diplomat, Russia is left with little choice and can either appeal to its partners in Ukraine, or turn to its European partners who rely on Ukraine to receive full and timely gas deliveries.

Isakov denied allegations that Russian aircraft perform emergency flights near Bulgarian airspace due to the presence of US warships in Black Sea waters.

"I have not heard anything like that. In any case, all these actions are performed by the Russian Air Force under 100% compliance with all Russian international obligations," the Ambassador stressed.

US decision to send warships to the Black Sea violates international law and in particular the Montreux Convention, which limits the stay of warships of non-Black Sea countries in the Black Sea, Isakov told Darik radio.

Warfou, You are impolite, inattentive, inaccurate and ill-bred:
(1) I replied to Optimistic, not to You, and his question wasn't about possibility to "crack" the aircraft carrier. (As for
the latter, once again: NO CHANCES. In Black sea, in that "plunge", "Georgie"(really super mighty) will be ALONE
vs the military might of the entire Russia. Simple as that.)
(2) Why that Russian Wiki? In my earlier reply to Optimistic I just stressed that P700 were OLD (but still effective);
(3)"Klubs were invented in 1983"---Klub-K was "invented-created" in 2009-2011.
Adding to the above " Your Soviet wet dreams", I have to state the obvious fact: You are plebeian, Warfou.

To Sasha: "Russian anti-ship missiles: P-700"Granit" (old but quite effective), P-800 Onix, Club-K".

Do you really suggest that Russia could use this post-Soviet stuff against the "USS George H.W. Bush" and "doom it once it enters the Black Sea" with it? It is like using bows against machine guns, simply makes no sense. First, the P-700 will soon be withdrawn from your navy because of obsolecy (compare Russian Wikipedia: "В перспективе, предполагается демонтаж ракеты со всех носителей ввиду ее морального и технического устаревания и замена П-700 на более универсальные и компактные противокорабельные ракеты меньшего радиуса действия." The P-800 have very limited operational range and are rather slow so easy to trace by any modern anti-missile system, and the Klubs were invented in 1983. Please, wake up from your Soviet wet dreams and live normally like the rest of the world does.

"To Warfou: Zhyrinovski (not president of Russia's parliament, but member of The State Duma) is the excentric
person ( I'd even say "clown", "tragicomical and particularly hard to understand", right, but very clever, btw). As for "fascist": if to call him so, then there are "analogues" in USA, Germany, France..."

Please don't forget Ataka in Bulgaria and Jobbik in Hungary......strangely enough two of Russia's most loyal and solid political allies in the EU....Funny how the "fascists" in Ukraine are evil but the REAL FASCISTS of BG and HU are Russia's "friends."

Optimistic, (1) to attack ship in reply to its fighter planes' attack? I'm not sure about legitimacy, but look: if the rockets are launched from that ship, then the replying attack is legitimate. Russian anti-ship missiles: P-700"Granit"
(old but quite effective), P-800 Onix, Club-K.

To Warfou: Zhyrinovski (not president of Russia's parliament, but member of The State Duma) is the excentric
person ( I'd even say "clown", "tragicomical and particularly hard to understand", right, but very clever, btw). As for "fascist": if to call him so, then there are "analogues" in USA, Germany, France...

No, I am not anti-semitic. Zhyrinovski is of such a descent what he publicly confirms. But at the same time he is a Russian nationalist, and Russian nationalists (chernaya sotnya) killed many Jews in the past. Knowing Russian history it is hard to understand that a person being of a Jewish descent can unify himself with Russian nationalism.

Optimistic - 13 Apr 2014 // 23:41:06

To Warfou why are you bringing up the point that the Russian President is of Jewish descent?

You are being anti semitic.

Jewish people have played important roles in Russia, Leon Trotsky was Jewish.

To Sasha: what about Russia's Zhyrinovski, a president of Russia's parliament then? Isn't it like there are fascists in Russia's government? By the way, the fact that Zhyrinovski is of a Jewish descent makes his person somehow tragicomical and particularly hard to understand.

To Independant, the Brits occupy the Falkland Islands and part of Ireland, the US occupies part of Cuba, the French occupy islands in the Pacific which they use for nuclear tests.

These 3 hypocrites are permament members of the UN Security council and they occupy parts of countries that are not theirs.

Perhaps optimistic supports that position with Chechnya and other people's who want to escape from Russia? Yes, I bet not too!!! Hypocrites!

Optimistic - 13 Apr 2014 // 16:13:01

Irlandais, your country is divided.

Do you accept that position?

From what I understand the majority of the people in the north part of ireland want to belong to the UK so they belong to the UK.

So if you are Irish or English you accept that a country to be divided if the majority in the region want that division.

Same rules that apply to Ireland should apply to the Ukraine.

He's just an oldfashioned Russian imperialist, and will tell lies and bend the facts when it suits him. He wants to dominate the countries around him the same way Stalin etc. did, and Finlandize the rest of Europe. From the way he suppresses all opposition within Russia we can see that democracy is just nonsense to him.

Well, let's hope the politicians in the West have got the message and will do all they can to end our dependence on Russian gas.

And don't forget: he is one of the richest men in Russia - grown fat on corruption.

Putin signed a law outlawing separatism in Russia last December, punishable with 5 years in prison. He invaded Chechnya when it broke away from Russia. Yet now he demands Ukraine give in to separatists. He is a hypocrite.

open and free referendums in Ukraine should be followed by the same in all outlaying regions of tsar putkas KGB federation - Russia seems to support anyone who wants to be their bitch, but is firmly against any kind of dissent when the boot is on the other foot

sa-sha members of your family were in the Russian Navy.

Some questions for you.

If fighter planes from a US ship based in international waters attacked Russia could Russia legitimately attack this ship even if it is in international waters?

What kind of anti ship missiles does Russia have?

Oh, this Warfou....;-) Fresh pearls: "Kiev government is not fascist"---sure, not. They are cannibals. "Creatures [people of the Ukrainian South East] must be killed", author: Irina Farion, "Svoboda" party, member of Verhovnaya Rada: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iv68wz3UrRY
" the sole USS George W. Bush holding 90 F-35 Lightning II and F-22 Raptors is able to eliminate the whole of "Chernomorskyi Flot" in 1-2 hours"-----!!! and how to take such an author seriously? As soon as "george" enters
the puddle called "Black Sea" and decides to start military actions, it is doomed. Any doubt?
