Turkey's constitutional court has ruled to unblock social media site YouTube, just a day after it lifted a ban on micro-blogging platform Twitter.

The court said that YouTube ban violated human rights and freedom of expression.

Magistrates however ordered that 15 videos remain unblocked, Hurriyet Daily News has reported.

Turkey's Telecommunication Authority (TIB) blocked YouTube on March 27, hours after leaks of a security meeting where officials discussed a possible military intervention in Syria were uploaded on the website and sparked nationwide outrage.

Short after access to YouTube was barred last week, Prime Minister Erdogan defended the decision, and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu described it as a question of "national security".

Erdogan criticized on Friday the court's decision to lift the ban on Twitter, saying he "did not respect" it as he does not find it "right and patriotic".

"While they are protecting an American company, our national and moral values are being disregarded," the BBC quoted him as saying.

Turkey's PM earlier vowed to "wipe out" social media as they were harmful for Turkish society.

Both YouTube and Twitter have been used to upload recordings of wiretapped conversations alleging large-scale corruption administrative abuse within the government and in Erdogan's inner circle, including family members.

The authenticity of all recordings has not yet been confirmed, but Turkish officials have admitted some of them are not fake.
