Pictures from Macedonia's capital Skopje can be seen at the European Parliament's visitors center in a short film dedicated to Sofia.

The story presented by the film starts with the 1997 protests that rocked Bulgaria's capital and goes on with later years of transition to market economy in the country.

EP's film, however, fails to show Terminal 2 of Sofia Airport, displaying Skopje's Alexander Veliki instead, the website Offnews.bg has reported.

Other landmarks follow which are not related to Sofia or even to Bulgaria, e.g. a bridge and a signboard of a completed infrastructure project in Macedonia's capital.

EP officials explained the blunder citing "financial reasons", which resulted in using archive photos for the film, as well as for other videos enhancing European cities.

They described placing photos of Skopje in Sofia's video as a "slip" and promised to correct it as soon as possible.
