Deputy Prime Minister Daniela Bobeva has emphasized the government's efforts aimed at launching electronic government as a priority task.

Speaking Wednesday in Parliament, she noted that although previous governments had declared the launch of e-government services to be a primary issue, the results were plain to see.

Bobeva informed that Bulgaria had had dropped 20 places by e-government services during the past programming period.

Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister vowed that the socialist-led coalition government would seek maximum efficiency in the electronization of public administration.

Bobeva informed that Bulgaria had been granted a total of BGN 140 M now for the development of electronic government, compared to a total of BGN 300 M during the previous programming period.

She explained that a total of 7 systems for electronic services had been launched since September.

"Encouraging communication activities is also a prime concern of the government because both the business sector and citizens need communication," she added, as cited by the BGNES news agency.

Bobeva made clear that the launch of e-public procurement was also a priority task, adding that the Parliament was expected to adopt the respective legislation and to make it a fact.

"We are trying to tie the process of administrative reform to electronization," she declared.

She underscored that the current government would be the first one to reduce the number of regulatory regimes during its term in office.
