The British government has come under fire for allegedly withholding a favourable report on the impact of immigration.
The report was ordered by the government and done by civil servants and was supposed to confirm the claims from an earlier report that every additional 100 new immigrants displace from their jobs 23 Brits.
The new analysis of the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC), however, turned out to be much less pessimistic and the government considered this as potentially incendiary, according to BBC.
The new MAC report estimates that the cost to existing British workers of new arrivals is much lower.
Government officials, however, deny the allegations that the report was withheld on purpose and said it is not ready yet and will be published “in due course”.
