The trade volume between Bulgaria and Turkey could increase twofold.
This transpired at a meeting between Bulgaria's Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski and Turkey's foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Thursday.
According to Davutoglu the turnover between the two countries could increase significantly from the current level of around EUR 3 B per annum.
In spite the dispute with the transport permits for trucks, Davutoglu said that the bilateral relations were excellent. “There are very few countries who have such close relations as Bulgaria and Turkey”, he said and added that he hopes for a permanent solution on the transit permits problem.
“Turkey is a big economy, a large market and source of investments”, Oresharski said, quoted by the Government press office.
According to Davutoglu the bilateral relations have the potential to develop in sectors such as energy, commerce, tourism and transport.
During his one-day visit to Bulgaria Davutoglu also met his Bulgarian counterpart Kristian Vigenin, President Rosen Plevneliev and Speaker of Parliament Mihail Mikov.
