50 Years Ago: China Launches Bulgarian Language Radio Broadcasts
In a testament to enduring friendship, this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and China
Government officials from Taiwan and China began their highest-ranking meetings since the end of the civil war 65 years ago, Tuesday.
Taiwan's minister of mainland affairs, Wang Yu-chi, arrived in Nanjing, China for a meeting with his Beijing counterpart Zhang Zhijun on the first day of a four-day visit, media reports said.
The meeting will be the highest-level interaction since the split between China and Taiwan in 1949.
Taiwan's Wang Yu-chi, called the meeting a "new chapter" in relations between the two sides, and "truly a day for the record books," Washington Post informed.
No official agenda has been announced for the meeting, but it can be considered as an attempt to rekindle relations between China and Taiwan. In the past, all dialogues have been held via organizations and intermediaries.
A Taiwanese representative said that Taiwan will not ink any agreements, but noted that "the main purpose of this visit is to promote understanding on both sides."
