The integration of Syrian refugees in Bulgaria has an impact over a very limited number of the total 10,000-11,000 asylum seekers in the country, according to expert.

"Not all refugees come from Syria, and some of them have a profile closer to that of economic migrants," head of the Center for European Refugees Migration and Ethnic Studies (CERMES) Dr. Anna Krasteva said in an interview for Focus News Agency.

"The majority of Syrian refugees and other asylum seekers want to relocate to Western Europe and will do so as soon as possible," she stressed.

According to Krasteva, some refugees wish to return to their country of origin, where they had homes, jobs, business. They are waiting for when the peace treaty is signed, which will guarantee for their security.

A relatively small number of refugees will reside in Bulgaria, Krasteva added.
