Bulgaria’s Parliament is to hold two emergency sittings next week in order to discuss the latest no-confidence motion tabled by the opposition.

The emergency sittings are to be held on Monday and Tuesday, it has been made clear.

On Thursday, Bulgaria’s center-right opposition GERB party submitted to Parliament its third no-confidence motion against the socialist-led coalition government, this time citing a failed security policy.

According to the Parliament's Rules of Procedure, GERB's motion is to be reviewed within 3-7 days from its submission, meaning that it should take place next week.

In order to be successful, the no-confidence motion has to be backed by at least 121 MPs, while GERB has 95.

Bulgaria’s embattled government has so far survived despite over eight months of relentless anti-corruption protests and two no-confidence motions.
