Center-right party GERB has submitted to Parliament its third no-confidence motion against the socialist-led coalition government, this time citing a failed security policy.

Dimitar Glavchev, Deputy Chair of GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria), explained Thursday that it had been difficult to pick a concrete topic because the government kept coming up with failures on an hourly basis, adding that they had eventually decided to stick with the sphere of domestic security, as GERB leader and former Prime Minister Boyko Borisov announced last week..

GERB representatives accused the Cabinet of attempting to bring special services into submission, of allowing an increase in smuggling, of failing to cope with the refugee crisis and get rampant household crime under control, and of losing public trust through the appointment of controversial media mogul Delyan Peevski as Chair of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) in June 2013.

This is the third no-confidence motion against the government headed by Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski, the previous two based on flaws in the investment planning policy and the regional policy, according to reports of dnevnik.bg.

According to the Parliament's Rules of Procedure, GERB's motion is to be reviewed within 3-7 days from its submission, meaning that it should take place next week.

In order to be successful, the no-confidence motion has to be backed by at least 121 MPs, while GERB has 95.
