Bulgarian Early Risers university students will stage a protest outside the Council of Ministers building against the pay raise of Members of Parliament.

The protest will take place on 6 February, at 6 pm local time, according to media reports.

Protesters are discontented that the current salaries of BGN 2200 will be increased by BGN 350. They reminded that the minimum wage in Bulgaria is BGN 340, and the minimum pension will be raised to BGN 154.50 by mid-2014.

"In the last 7 months we wanted to tell you to resign, not raise your pay!" the Early risers wrote in their appeal to the Government.

Protesters against the Oresharski cabinet first walked out in June 2013, after the appointment of controversial media mogul Delyan Peevski for head of Bulgaria's State Agency for National Security.

Peevski's reinstatement as MP after his resignation from the Security Agency provoked a student occupation at Sofia University in October by the so-called Early risers.
