Bulgarian artist is taking the Sochi Olympic games organizers to court for plagiarism, Bulgarian Nova Tv reported.
Elena Parusheva, Bulgarian artist living and working in France has filed a complaint in the Civil Court in Paris and in Interpol against two Russian companies – Design Depot and Energomash-BZEM.
Parusheva claims that the companies have used her idea of a 32-meter high-voltage pylon in the shape of a jumping skier constructed in the area of the Olympic games in Sochi.
"I insist that this is a case of plagiarism, because some of the art works of Design Depot are copies of my drawings or sculptures. The sculpture in Sochi is based on my designs," Elena Parusheva claimed on Nova TV morning show on Wednesday.
Parusheva said that she met with Andrey Kazachenkov, the Adviser to the Chairman of Russian Federal Grid's Management Board at her exhibition in France in 2010. The two discussed a possible collaboration for the Sochi Games in 2014, however after Parusheva sent 19 of her designs, the communication has stopped.
In 2013, the artist saw publications in Russian media depicting the sculptures of a skier and a reindeer in Sochi which very much resembled her own designs.
Parusheva is determined to sue the two companies for plagiarism. Her claim was supported by Russian bloggers of BlogSochi.ru who insisted that the "sculptures should be given back to the artist", Bulgarian Manager News announced.
