Ukrainian Woman Detained in Sunny Beach After Attempted Bribery of Police Officers

Four individuals have been detained in the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Varna for beating and robbing a Syrian citizen, who is an asylum seeker.
The information was reported by the press center of Varna police.
The call for a helpless man, laying on the road between the city and the Albena beach resort, has been received around 10 pm Tuessday. Police found him with visible traces of beating and without ID papers.
He was taken to the nearest police precinct where the authorities established that he is a Syrian citizen, 27, who is in the process of obtaining asylum status from the State Agency for Refugees.
The man has testified that unknown persons have thrashed him and stole from him 2 cell phones, a substantial amount of cash in EUR and BGN, and his refugee ID card.
A woman, 33, from the nearby village of Sindel, with a clean criminal record, 2 men from Sindel and the village of Valchi Dol, with criminal records, and an Iraqi citizen, 34, also an asylum seeker have been arrested.
Some of the stolen items have been returned to the Syrian man.
