A Bulgarian sociologist has suggested that left-wing movement ABV and center-right party GERB may join forces on key issues.

The Alternative for Bulgarian Renaissance (ABV) movement of former left-wing two-term President Georgi Parvanov and center-right party GERB of ex Prime Minister Boyko Borisov may cooperate on high-priority issues, according to Andrey Bundzhulov, former secretary of President Parvanov.

In a Saturday interview for Darik radio, Bundzhulov claimed that cooperation between the two parties was possible, adding that the debates which would indicate the points of agreement between the formations had to be absolutely transparent.

The sociologist noted that Bulgaria would profit from agreement on several priority issues, or a minimum of several strategic goals.

He insisted clear that parties had to achieve long-term agreement which was expected to last several decades.

Bundzhulov pointed out that Bulgaria had nothing to gain from unprincipled and opaque coalitions or the interplay of lobbyists 'interests.

He suggested that ABV would insist on the revocation of the flat tax rate and the introduction of family income taxation combined with an income-tax-free threshold.

Earlier on Saturday, Boyko Borisov, former Prime Minister and leader of center-right party (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria), ruled out the option of coalition partnership with Parvanov's ABV.

He declared that the only possible coalition partner of GERB was right-wing formation The Reformist Bloc.
