Bulgaria and Albania's Chambers of Commerce will cooperate in seeking new business partnerships and the two countries will work towards boosting bilateral trade.

Bulgaria's President Rosen Plevneliev is on a 2-day visit to Tirana, where he met with his counterpart Bujar Nishani on Thursday.

"Bilateral trade between our countries grew by 13% in 2013, but our goal is to broaden it even more, in the sectors of energy, transport infrastructure, and pharmaceutics", stated Plevneliev, cited by his press office.

The President sees agriculture and food production as other strategic sectors, in which companies from Bulgaria and Albania can partner.

Both heads of state were united in their appraisal for the European integration of the Western Balkans as a prerequisite to forming the new image of the region.

The security of electricity supply was another topic of discussion during the meeting. President Plevneliev outlined that Bulgaria produces 3 times more electricity than it uses, which allows it to export to other countries in the region.

On Thursday evening, the two presidents examined the exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, at the Theater of Opera and Ballet in Tirana.

After that, they attended a concert of the Bulgarian ensemble "Sredets" and the National Ensemble of Albanian Folk Songs and Dances.
