The removal of work restrictions for Bulgarians and Romanians in the UK from January 1, 2014 is beneficial both for us and for Britons, according to PR expert Maxim Behar.
In a Thursday interview for private TV station TV7, he argued that all the fuss about the opening up of the British labor market to Bulgarians and Romanians had been triggered by domestic political battles in UK.
He was adamant that Bulgarians willing to work in the United Kingdom had fulfilled their plans long ago.
The PR specialist pointed out that even if the UK faced an influx of Bulgarians, it would be beneficial for the British economy.
"If Bulgarians want to make it in the UK, they have to work twice, even three times as hard, and as loyal, than in their home country," he added.
He also noted that Bulgaria had not chased away some 30 000 British citizens who had come to Bulgaria to buy land, not to work.
Behar stressed that Bulgarians were entitled to a hospitable welcome in the UK, given the welcoming attitude of Bulgarians to British people.
Asked to comment on the current political situation in Bulgaria, against the backdrop of the ongoing anti-government protests, he claimed that the country would not face parliamentary elections in 2014.
"The European Parliament election is enough, it will show voters' attitudes. The Cabinet has to do its job, and society must be a benchmark of the authorities, as it showed it can be," he added.
