Winter Tourism: 1.8 Million Visit Bulgaria

The total number of long-term foreign residents from non-EU countries living in Bulgaria in 2013 is 18 328.
Of these, 1072 are Turks, 276 Russians, 193 Ukrainians, 160 Macedonians, 116 Moldovans, 93 Serbs and 77 Chinese.
The official data were provided by the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior’s Migration Directorate at the request of the local Standard daily.
According to law, citizens of non-EU countries can be granted Bulgarian residency status for up to 90 days, 1 year, or 5 years.
A total of 137 Indians, 350 Chinese, 519 Americans, 315 Macedonians, 192 Albanians and 7435 Russians live and work in Bulgaria.
Meanwhile, the influx of Syrian immigrants has decreased significantly, according to the Interior Ministry. No illegal trespassers have attempted to cross the Turkish-Bulgarian border in the last few days.
The total number of illegal immigrants in Bulgaria is 11 500. Most of these are Syrians, Afghans and Algerians.
Some 927 immigrants have already left Bulgaria due to administrative measures or by their own free will.
The State Agency for Refugees has granted refugee status to 97 people and humanitarian status to 465 people in December only.
