The deadline set by the Bulgarian Parliament to adopt the Election Code is the end of March, stated Parliament Speaker Mihail Mikov.
Friday Mikov delivered the final press conference on the house's activities for 2013.
The chair gave an overview of the first two plenary sessions of the 42nd National Assembly and specified some priorities for the coming months.
Among the areas that the house needs to do more work, Mikov singled out administrative capacity.
"We can no longer hold narrow specialists in Bulgarian law and EU law. They have to work together. Not seldom do we see mechanical transcription of directives, only to later realize that in fact the directive has not been implemented," said Mikov.
He also stressed that Parliament needs to put more intensive efforts in its power of oversight over state regulatory agencies, as well as in its international contacts with other legislative bodies.
Mikov expressed satisfaction at what he termed an increased activity of opposition parties during the second plenary session, but also regret at the lasting confrontation.
"Since convening Parliament in May, he have not had a joint declaration of the entire house. I hope this will change in 2014," said the Speaker.
Mikov also gave a quantitative overview of pieces of legislation tabled and passed, as well as of other parliamentary matters.
For the two sessions, 48 legislative proposals have been tabled by MPs, and 54 other - by the Council of Ministers.
